As the years pass by and we are getting older we’ve gotten used to the ever changing holiday plans. Like we’ve mentioned before, change is a scary word, but something we’ve seen a lot these days. This year we have a few changes from last year's holiday season. First and the most exciting of the changes is the addition of sweet Joseph (or we like to call him Baby J). We are all so excited to watch him experience his first Christmas! The other big change this holiday season is we now have a sister that lives in Nebraska.
Yes, you read that right. I am currently sitting on my couch in Nebraska watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas and writing this blog. I’ve been reflecting on the past year and this year's holiday season trying to wrap my mind around the fact that I now live 12 hours away from my entire family. This was a hard decision and big adjustment, but I am excited for the years ahead!
Now, Thanksgiving day this year was a bit odd when I wasn’t gathered around our kitchen table getting ready to dig into an inevitably delicious meal. Don’t get me wrong, the Chinese food on my couch had an oddly comforting touch, but it did make me miss everyone a little bit more. You don’t realize the little things you could miss out on until you miss out on them! Things like our families annual fall trip to an orchard/pumpkin patch and a sister ice skating adventure.
The other day while I was putting my tree up in my apartment, I couldn’t help but think about all the interesting years of putting up the Christmas tree at home and decorating our house! Suddenly, the little things around the holidays don’t seem so little anymore. I am fortunate enough to work for a company where I have the opportunity to go home for ten days over Christmas, and I can't wait!
The first must do holiday tradition will be our cookie baking day! Now, if you know anyone in our family you’ll know that we tend to have a sweet tooth. The amount of cookies that we bake and enjoy this day is enough to put you into a cookie coma! At the end of the day all the changes we face have shown us to truly enjoy the time we have together and that is exactly what we will be doing this holiday season! From breakfast and presents on Christmas morning to venturing off to all our holiday gatherings.
In the spirit of tradition, we want to start a company Christmas tradition of a virtual tree hop! Everyone seemed to enjoy it last year, so we are going to do it again this year. So, without further ado here are our beautiful trees from amongst our households! If you are feeling festive we would love to see your tree!
Here is to embracing the changes this holiday season and cherishing the time we have together! Thank you to everyone for your never ending support, and we hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Love,
Kendra & all of us sisters at Steckler Family Meat Co.
